Split Today

Privacy Policy

Split Today (iOS) · Ananto Mohammad · Effective date: 22 October 2026

This policy describes how Split Today collects, uses and stores information. Split Today is an app for splitting bills with friends and households, published by Ananto Mohammad.

Account information

You can create an account with Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or an email address and password (Firebase Authentication). We receive your email address, name and a user identifier so we can create and authenticate your account. You choose a username and can add a profile photo, which friends and household members can see.

App data

To provide the app's features we store, in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Storage):

This data is used only for app functionality: showing balances, splitting bills, sending friend-request, expense and message notifications, delivering chat messages and letting you settle up.

Quick Add, voice and Siri

Quick Add turns what you type or say into a draft expense. It runs on your iPhone: it uses Apple's on-device Apple Intelligence model when available, or a built-in reader otherwise. Voice input uses Apple's speech recognition, on-device where your iPhone supports it (Apple may otherwise process the audio under Apple's own privacy policy). Siri can start Quick Add. Your text and voice are not sent to our servers or to any third-party AI service. Nothing is saved until you confirm the preview; the saved expense is stored like any other expense.

Messages with friends

Chats are end-to-end encrypted. Messages are encrypted on your iPhone and can only be read on your device and your friend's device. Split Today and our service providers cannot read them. To deliver messages we store the encrypted message, who sent it to whom and when, plus each device's public encryption key. Your private key stays in your iCloud Keychain (or only on your iPhone if iCloud Keychain is off).

Analytics

Split Today uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count how features are used, for example when an account is created. Events never include names, emails, amounts, notes or messages, no user ID is set, and they are not used to track you across other companies' apps and websites. Split Today has no separate crash-reporting SDK. Apple may share crash reports with us if you opt in to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings.

Advertising

Split Today shows a Google AdMob banner on the Home screen only. There are no interstitial ads. Split Today does not ask to track you, so your device's advertising ID is never shared with us or our ad partner. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message is shown before ads load, and you can change your choice any time in Account → Privacy Choices. AdMob may use device information, coarse (IP-based) location and Apple SKAdNetwork to serve and measure ads.

What we do not do

Data sharing

We share data only with service providers needed to run the app: Google Firebase (sign-in, database, storage, push notifications and analytics), Google and Apple (sign-in), and Google AdMob (Home banner ads).

Retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Account → Delete Account, or by emailing us. See Delete Account. Messages you already sent stay readable only by the friend you sent them to.

Children

Split Today is not intended for children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy and will change the effective date above.
